Woo

This lunchtime, I foolishly went into one of the achingly hip boo-teeks that are scattered about Clerkenwell. And used the "it's my birthday soon" excuse in order to purchase this wondrous thing:

Yes, it's a big bracelet with lots of religious icons. It is F.A.B. And wearing it will ensure I go to heaven. Bonus!

That does look utterly fantastic.

It's my birthday in about four weeks, so I'm spending 15 quid a day on records as a suitable fanfare. It doesn't do to leave these things unheralded.

That looks cool! St Peter won't refuse you entry if you wear that. Do they do necklaces? If so I must go there.

Or does the shop have a website?

Birthday presents to yourself are the best kind, because you're guaranteed to like them.

Although there was that one time I bought myself some socks and a Mr Tickle mug... but I try not to talk about that.

And Chintz, they do all sorts of nice things. No website that I can locate (the shop is just too wee) but it's called Bread and Honey and is on Whitecross Street (off Old Street). Pop in if you're in the area and feeling flush.

Very nice. You are teh style queen*, non?
I'm going to buy me some new specs today - and possibly some shades too - and my birthday's positively months away. Still, I can't remember when I got my current pair of glasses, which means it's probably about time I got some more.

* killer style queen or style killer queen?

New specs - niiiice. Get some that make you look like David Tennant in Doctor Who. Mmmm, zeitgeisty.

Oh, and I prefer "killer style queen". Principally because "style killer queen" suggests that the second I get on board with a trend then it's killed stone dead. Which, sadly, isn't that far from the truth... (*hides Ugg boots in shame*)

There's a Padre Pio shop (or summat like that) at the Victoria end of Vauxhall Bridge Road which sells the wherewithal to make your own versions of that bracelet - the little pics are about 20p each. Although it's not wise to tell the ladies in there what you're up to as they're extremely devout. Last time I was there they told me they were closing the shop for an hour as they were having mass downstairs - and would I like to join them?

Am I the only person not watching Dr Who?

(4.5.06 11:01)
Yes, Snags, you are. Remedy the situation with all speed. It is mighty. Me and the flatmate both had tears in our eyes at the end of the last episode.

Of laughter?
Not being able to fancy his assistant means it'll never be the same as it was when I were a nipper.

I see your problem.

Obviously, it'll be a different matter when I take over the role...
